~ Amy's Bio ~

Amy's passion for art began as a child, inherited from her grandmother and mother.  Her father, a contractor, taught her and her siblings in their early years to paint.  Her brother, a well known, established painting contractor, saw her potential in the decorative faux painting and Venetian plaster she had done in her own home. He offered her occasional jobs, as his company did not offer faux.

Soon she was sought after by other contractors and residential home owners. She realized the possibility of achieving a life long dream: owning and operating her own business. Her 1st year in business (2005) started out with great success, as she was awarded Best Special Effects in that year's Tour of Homes.

Amy continually perfects her craft by continuing to further her education and skill in the latest trends, newest professional products and techniques, and by studying with premiere Aletiers + Institutes. She has traveled to study with leading faux masters such as the award winning Best of France, Pierre Finkestein, and Pascal Amblard, head muralist instructor at IPEDEC in France. She has studied extensively in Italy, where she gained vast amounts of historical knowledge, learned the latest cutting-edge European faux finishes, and received hands-on training taught by leading Masters of the industry.

In July, 2007, she volunteered her time for ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition in Corvallis, OR. She utilized her skills of mural painting, cartoon caricature, and decorative painting. As a member of SALT (an International Association of Artisans), she also recently traveled to San Francisco for an artist convention. At the convention, Amy and fellow artists painted a philanthropic mural, which was donated to Habitat for Humanity.

Her experience as a student and a practicing professional contributes to her knowledge and competence to create a dream finish for her client. Amy believes using professional products are a must when creating one of her exquisite faux finishes.  However, it is truly the artisan's hand that creates the masterpiece and brings true beauty to life for the eye to see and appreciate.

At Exquisite Faux Effects, Amy helps her clients represent their style, whether it be classic, contemporary, Mediterranean, rustic, or refined. She excels at handcrafting nearly any surface into a piece of art. She specializes in residential, commercial, and large estate commissions through out the nation. Her passion for the faux arts can be seen in her work.
